Okay guys, first things first: that gown! It’s a custom design by Ecliptica in Puerto Rico, where bride Maite is from. She handed over her moodboard and let the designers work their magic. Then, she didn’t see it until 3 days before the wedding. Some things are meant to be, ya know?

And the rest of Maite + Allan’s Barcelona botanical wedding, represented by both Puerto Rico national flower Flor de Maga (for Maite) + the thistle from Scotland (for Allan) is just as impressive. Photos by Raquel Puras of 3 Deseos y Medio:

Allan wore a traditional Scottish kilt in the Stevenson (his last name) tartan.

Maite says, The girls at Bornay  are flower geniuses. I wanted something wild, slightly strange and moody, and they delivered. Some flowers were slightly spray painted. There was a variety of thistles, fern, moss, miniature air plants, colored craspedia, and a variety of banksia protea and white hydrangeas. It was so unusual, it looked from a jungle in another planet. I loved it.

My most memorable moment was saying hello to Allan when I reached the altar. In Britain, the groom waits facing the front of the church until the bride is by his side. I didn’t know this so I was getting anxious that he wasn’t seeing me walk down, and I remember whispering to my uncle, who walked me down the aisle, “Why isnt he turning around?” I started walking a bit faster and my uncle said let’s slow down, he’s right there. My family started whispering to turn around and he did a bit before I reached him. All of the sudden I got so shy, like I was meeting him for our first date. Our grins from beginning to end of the wedding made all the planning so worth it.

They didn’t have a videographer… Instead, a friend set up 10 GoPros around and on guests!

A stunning, earthy setting complete with willow trees, mountains views and wild horses, plus a historic home that accommodated both their families.

El Graeller Rialler whipped up some fresh, traditional Catalan grillout food on the venue’s traditional stone grill.

Some parting words from the bride… One of the best things we did was take a few days before the whole thing started to disconnect. We got to Barcelona 3 days before our friends and family started arriving and whilst we did some planning we mainly just enjoyed relaxing by ourselves.

Cheers you guys!
