Princess Diana’s Engagement Ring!
Prince Charles initially proposed without an engagement ring, insisting Diana consider the implications of her role as his wife before accepting. Diana however, with minimal pause, accepted his proposal of marriage.
She was presented with a selection of engagement rings from Garrard Jewelers. Their engagement became official on February 24,1981, after Diana selected a large $40,000 sapphire and diamond ring… today’s value is estimated at approximately $136,000. The ring was similar to her own mother’s engagement ring.
The ring was made by the then, crown jewelers Garrard but, unusually for a member of the Royal family, the ring was not unique at all. In fact, Garrard’s featured the 18 carat sapphire ring surrounded by 14 small diamonds, in their own jewelry collection.
Originally owned by Princess Diana, Kate Middleton now wears this famous sapphire and diamond ring Engagement Ring jewelry.
