Inspiring act: Admiring mother on your wedding
The A list actress paid respects to her beloved mother at her wedding to Brad Pitt.
Angelina’s mother Marcheline Bertrand lost her battle to ovarian cancer in 2007, aged 56.
In PEOPLE’s exclusive new cover story, the actress reveals how she, Brad Pitt and their family remembered her mother during the intimate, joyful ceremony at their French estate, Château Miraval.
More recently, when she received the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award before the Oscars last year, Jolie credited her mother for inspiring her philanthropic work.
“She believed nothing would mean anything if you didn’t lead a life that was of use to others,” Jolie said.
However Marcheline, also an actress, was present in spirit at the Jolie-Pitt wedding which took place on August 23rd at their French estate.
In her first interview post-nuptials, Angelina told People magazine,
“Brad had a dedication to Marcheline engraved inside the chapel where we stood.”
The brunette beauty also wore pieces of her mother’s jewellery, as did her brother James Haven.
“I wore a little flower ring that was hers, and Jamie wore an angel pin from her jewellery box,” she revealed.
